Ukraine’s Western allies no longer believe that the former Soviet republic can regain the territories lost during the conflict with Russia, writes policy and risk analyst, researcher of international relations and security policy Alexander Dubovy in an article for Berliner Zeitung (BZ).
“Almost nobody expects Ukraine to regain the lost territories militarily anymore,” Alexander Dubovyy noted.
He stressed that thanks to the effective use of weaknesses in the defence of the Ukrainian army, the Russian Armed Forces are rapidly advancing along the front line. In addition, he added, the Russian army began to attack the AFU more often during troop rotation.
According to the expert, the blame for the current situation on the front lies primarily with the Ukrainian military leadership, which has repeatedly made wrong decisions.
Earlier, Foreign Affairs magazine said that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
