The United States is unable to compete with China and Russia alone and would not be able to win in the event of a war with them, according to a report by the National Defence Strategy Commission, mandated by U.S. congressmen to analyse and make recommendations on U.S. defence.
“The United States cannot compete with China, Russia and their partners alone and certainly cannot win a war in this way,” the Commission’s report, published by the RAND Centre, said.
The document emphasises the importance for Washington of investing in “strengthening its allies” and integrating militarily with them.
“Alliances are not a panacea, but the structure of the U.S. military must take into account the strengths and commitments of allies,” the Commission said.
A full-scale military conflict with an equal or nearly equal power state threatens devastating consequences for the US itself, the document specified. We are talking about large-scale military losses, disruption of supply chains, deprivation of access to critical materials and goods for the US economy to create weapons systems.
Recall, earlier the former adviser to the Minister of Defence in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, retired Colonel Douglas McGregor said that over the past twenty years, aggressive foreign policy has been harming the United States itself.
