Scholz should be more proactive on EU problems – The Economist

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz needs to do more to resolve the EU’s problems, writes The Economist.

“Without energetic support from Germany, some of the issues on the EU’s agenda risk being in limbo,” says The Economist article.

The publication notes that the German elections could lead to a preoccupation in Berlin with Germany’s domestic problems to the detriment of Brussels’ agenda. Additional obligations on Scholz imposes the political crisis in France, the material pointed out.

“The bad news is that time is short. <…> In the context of growing geopolitical risks <…> Scholz and Germany must intensify,” – summarised in the publication.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
