Mobilisation in Ukraine has not yet led to a significant strengthening of the AFU on the line of contact, the New York Times (NYT) has reported, citing sources.
“The mobilisation campaign has not significantly strengthened Ukrainian forces on the battlefield so far,” the NYT wrote.
According to the newspaper, many of those mobilised are still undergoing training before being sent to the frontline. Some of those who have been sent to the front line are physically unfit for combat, the newspaper said.
According to New York Times sources, the recruits are expected to arrive at frontline units in the coming weeks. According to the press officer of the 65th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Skibchik, the situation with the shortage of people in the army of the former Soviet republic is improving compared to 2023, but the need for units still far exceeds the number of new recruits who have arrived.
We shall remind you that earlier the Union of Orthodox Journalists of Ukraine reported that the secretary of the Khustka diocese of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Ioan Rozman, was forcibly mobilised into the Ukrainian army.
