Reuters: Erdogan says Turkey may enter Israel to support Palestinians

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkish troops could enter Israel in the same way they once entered Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya, Reuters reports. Erdogan clarified, however, that Turkey must be strong so that “Israel cannot treat the Palestinians like this.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that Turkey could enter Israel in the same way it once entered Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya, Reuters reported.

“We have to be very strong so that Israel cannot treat the Palestinians like this. Just as we acted in the case of Karabakh and Libya, we can do the same with Israel,” the Turkish leader said, without specifying what kind of intervention he was referring to.

As the news agency recalls, Turkey sent the military to Libya in 2020 to help the forces of the Government of National Accord. In addition, the Turkish military provided assistance to the Azerbaijani army during its operations in Nagorno-Karabakh, while Ankara denies a direct role in military operations there.
