Biden intends to impose limits on immunity for US presidents – Politico

US President Joe Biden plans to introduce a special amendment to the country’s constitution on Monday, 29 July, to limit the immunity of heads of state, Politico reported.

“President Joe Biden plans to unveil a proposal to dramatically reform the supreme court. He is also expected to put forward a constitutional amendment limiting the lack of jurisdiction of presidents and several other top officials,” Politico reported, citing two unnamed sources.

The newspaper stressed that this is in response to a Supreme Court ruling that recognised Donald Trump’s partial lack of jurisdiction, under which presidents have some immunity from prosecution for “official acts” while in office.

The exact provisions of the amendment are not announced, follows from the publication.

We will remind, earlier the newspaper Politico said that the Congressmen of the Republican Party believe that the assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump increased his chances of returning to the White House.
