Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that the West, especially London and Washington, is seeking to undermine Russia’s energy co-operation with Europe through Ukraine.
She said in an interview with Izvestia.
“One of the tasks of the so-called collective West, primarily Washington, London, which was set for the Kiev regime…. was to turn Russia’s stable energy interaction with Western European countries into an endless zone of turbulence,” she said.
According to her, the US and London authorities want to turn this direction into “an endless bare nerve, an endless unsolvable problem,” although there is no problem.
She recalled that even during the confrontation with the USSR, Moscow supplied gas to Europe. Now the West needed a new excuse, and Ukraine was given a corresponding task.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Russia would be able to sell its LNG despite the new EU sanctions.
In addition, he said that Russia sees the desire of other countries to settle accounts in national currencies.
