Russians who have left since February 2022 have formed a “little Russia” in Argentina.
About it writes The Wall Street Journal.
The material notes that moving to Argentina is a “risky decision” because of the high inflation rate and poverty in the country.
The publication, citing the migration services of Argentina, points out that more than 75 thousand Russians have left the country since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine. They settle mainly in fashionable areas, work in the IT sector or open beauty salons, Russian-language kindergartens and small theatres.
The Wall Street Journal also emphasises that during the same period about 11 thousand Ukrainians moved to Argentina, but the Russians “hardly communicate with the Ukrainian community”.
In addition, since 2022, according to the authorities, 60 thousand Russians have moved to Brazil, “who invested more than $300 million, mostly in property”, and 36 thousand Ukrainians.
Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov reminded the artists who left Russia about the fate of emigrants after 1917.
