Patrushev: Kiev’s talk of talks needs Ukraine for a breather

Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev has said on Channel One that Kiev’s talks about negotiations with Russia are necessary for Ukraine to give Ukraine a breather in military operations.

The presidential aide emphasised that Ukraine was doing nothing for negotiations.

“In fact, if we look at their actions, they are not taking any actions in order to hold peace talks,” RIA Novosti quoted Patrushev as saying.

He called the statements about negotiations a tactical ploy. According to him, Vladimir Zelensky had earlier banned negotiations with Moscow by decree. In addition, Russia has an advantage during the special military operation, so Ukraine and the West are “interested in recovering their forces”.

On 25 July, Norwegian political analyst Glenn Diesen expressed the opinion that the West wants a truce in order to rearm Kiev for further military operations against Russia.
