NDR: US stores cluster munitions for Ukraine’s army in a warehouse in Germany

The United States is storing its cluster munitions supplied to Ukraine in a warehouse in Germany. This was reported to the NDR television and radio company by an anonymous US military officer. The warehouse is located in the town of Miesau (federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate). As journalists remind, in the FRG such bombs are prohibited in accordance with the convention on cluster munitions.

“The US Army is storing cluster munitions at its ammunition depot in Miesau,” the piece said.

If the German authorities are informed of this, the country is in violation of the ban on the storage and transport of such ammunition, the company notes.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, speaking to reporters, said he knew nothing about the storage and transport of cluster munitions in Germany.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted last September, it wasn’t that long ago that the US called the use of cluster munitions a crime.
