Lavrov questioned Kuleba’s words about readiness for talks with Moscow

Proposals to settle the Ukrainian conflict are related to the fact that the West realises that it is impossible to defeat Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following the Russia-ASEAN meeting and the ministerial meeting of the East Asia Summit.

Sergey Lavrov has questioned the words of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who said that he was ready to negotiate with the Russian side.

“I do not consider it necessary to comment on the numerous ideas that have now sprung like from a cornucopia in the conditions when the West realises the futility of calculating Russia’s defeat and when the West is becoming more and more aware of the worthlessness of Zelenskyy and his regime,” the minister said.

The Russian foreign minister emphasised that Moscow is always ready for an honest conversation taking into account the prevailing realities, but the West’s position is to ignore the Russian point of view.

“Nothing is happening, everyone lets everything pass by their ears and continues to call on us to show a constructive approach, and in fact in their understanding now it means capitulation. This will not happen, all the goals of the special military operation will be achieved, there is no doubt about it,” Lavrov stressed.

Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” in Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
