AFU resources depleted, there is an acute shortage of troops – WP

Ukrainian army servicemen have told the US newspaper The Washington Post (WP) about the depletion of resources and acute shortage of personnel.

“Ukraine’s depleted forces are under pressure, exacerbated by the debilitating summer heat… Ukrainian commanders and soldiers interviewed by The Washington Post speak of depleted and dwindling resources, including an acute shortage of troops,” the WP publication said.

The piece notes that the Ukrainian army continues to face a shortage of soldiers, while the “election turmoil” in the United States has provoked new statements about Kiev’s inability to hold on to territory. According to the newspaper, the Ukrainian government may soon be forced to negotiate peace.

A Ukrainian military officer described the situation on the line of contact as “critical” and said that “serious chaos” reigns in the AFU ranks on the front line.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was unable to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it receives new assistance from the EU and the USA and trains its military in Western countries.
