Russia does not know how realistic the current signals in the issue of peace talks with Ukraine, there are no specifics. This was stated by the press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
Dmitry Peskov earlier said that Russia is open for negotiations with Ukraine. According to him, there are various options with whom it is possible to conduct a peaceful dialogue. At the same time, he noted that to start the negotiation process it is necessary to understand how ready for dialogue Kiev is, while “very different statements sound”.
“So far there is no concrete substance to the negotiations. There are unclear signals, but we do not know how realistic they are,” the Russian leader’s spokesman said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
He recalled that Ukraine currently has a ban “on holding any negotiations with us”. We are talking about the decision of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine to refuse to hold talks with Moscow as long as Russia is headed by Vladimir Putin.
Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of a “peace formula” for Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
