Peskov said that Russia was open for talks with Ukraine

Moscow is open for talks with Kiev, but it is necessary to understand the degree of readiness of the Ukrainian side for this, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

“Russia is generally open to the negotiation process. But first we need to understand how ready the Ukrainian side is for this and to what extent the Ukrainian side has, let’s say, permission for this from its handlers. Because so far, you see, very different statements have been made. And it is not quite clear yet,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

According to the official, the obstacle to negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, in addition to the issue of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s legitimacy, is Kiev’s legal ban on any contacts and negotiations with the Russian side.

“These bans are in force. So there is a lot here that still needs to be clarified,” – summarised the spokesman for the Russian President.

Recall, earlier Dmitry Peskov said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy should think about the peace proposal of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, because the military situation for Kiev is deteriorating.
