Biden cancels nine trips after withdrawing his candidacy in the election – NYP

US President Joe Biden has cancelled nine working trips planned for the next two weeks after leaving the election race. This was reported by The New York Post (NYP) on Monday, 22 July, citing a source in the White House.

According to the newspaper, the reason why the White House cancelled the US president’s working trips is unknown. The publication stresses that the detection of coronavirus in Joe Biden is not directly related to this decision. According to the previously approved schedule, the American president was supposed to travel to the West Coast with stops in California, Denver, Houston and Austin, but all these trips were suddenly cancelled.

“They began cancelling the visits when Biden announced his withdrawal from the campaign trail,” the piece said.

The New York Post emphasised that the trips represented both pre-election and official presidential meetings.

We will remind, earlier Politico reported that Joe Biden decided to give up re-election after a meeting with the two closest advisers.
