Kiev mayor Klitschko says Zelenskyy will need to hold a referendum

Ukraine may need a referendum to achieve peace, Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

“Zelenskyy will probably have to resort to a referendum. I don’t think he will be able to come to such painful and important agreements on his own, without legitimisation by the people,” he said in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

In Klitschko’s opinion, Ukraine could create a government of national unity following the example of Israel. The politician noted that Volodymyr Zelenskyy concentrated too much power in his office.

Earlier, the head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the Opposition Platform For Life party banned in Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk, said that Ukraine might face a new series of referendums on reunification with Russia.
