The European Union has increased fish imports from Russia, rising to 65 million euros in May 2024, according to an analysis by the RIA Novosti agency of Eurostat data.
The document states that the Russian Federation in May 2024 sold 17.9 thousand tonnes of fish to the EU for 65 million euros, which is more than April shipments by 15% in physical and 16% in monetary terms.
Fish fillets accounted for the majority of European imports, with the value of shipments remaining at 32.7 million euros. Purchases of frozen fish rose 13 per cent to €22 million. Shipments of dried fish or fish in brine increased the most – 3.1 times to 8.8 million euros. In addition, the supplies of shellfish resumed in May. Russia exported these products worth 947 thousand euros, the report said.
The main buyer of Russian fish in May was the Netherlands with 18.5 million euros, while Portugal increased its purchases the most – 3.9 times, to 13 million, follows from the publication.
We will remind, earlier the agency TASS with reference to the data of the General Customs Administration of China reported that the volume of Russian oil supplies to China in January – May increased by 11% year-on-year to 46.7 million tonnes.
