WSJ: Democrats prepare for presidential campaign without Biden

Democrats believe US President Joe Biden will drop out of the presidential race.

The Wall Street Journal writes that.

“Now, it seems, everything depends on when, not if, Biden will withdraw from the presidential race”, – stated in the report with reference to people close to senior members of the Democratic Party of the United States.

According to the publication, the Democrats are planning the next steps in case Biden refuses to run for president.

In addition, financiers and donors held a meeting to discuss the suspension of funding for the Democratic Party until Biden withdraws his candidacy from the election. According to the publication’s sources, some of them are pushing for lawmakers to publicly call on Biden to withdraw from the election.

The Wall Street Journal also writes that the US president’s path “to re-election has faced scepticism from major party figures”. In particular, citing unnamed sources, the publication notes that former US President Barack Obama doubts Biden’s victory.

Earlier, the columnist of the TV channel Newsmax Mark Halperin expressed the opinion that US President Joe Biden will refuse to participate in the new presidential race and will not support the candidacy of Vice-President Kamala Harris.
