US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has admitted imposing duties of 100-200 per cent on Chinese cars if he wins the election.
According to the former US leader, this could help the US auto industry avoid total destruction.
He noted that in Mexico there is now the construction of large Chinese factories for the further sale of cars in the United States. Trump said he intends to bring back car production in the country.
“These factories will be built in the United States and our people will work in them. And if they do not agree, we will introduce duties of about 100-200% on each car, and it will become impossible to sell them in the United States,” TASS quoted Trump as saying.
Earlier, the former US President said in an interview with Bloomberg that if elected, he intends to raise duties on products from China and other countries.
