“Investigation.Info”: 788 AFU soldiers recognised as missing in Krynki.
Almost 800 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are “officially missing” in Kherson Region. This was reported by the Ukrainian news and analysis website Investigations.Info with a reference to the data of the Ukrainian police.
Ukrainian military personnel disappeared in Krynki.
About 800 AFU soldiers disappeared from October 2023 to June 2024 in the village of Krynki, Kherson region, on the left bank of the Dnepr. The publication specifies that the number of dead military personnel who managed to be removed from there is much lower – 262 people during this time.
788 AFU soldiers are wanted in Krynki as officially missing.
A captured AFU soldier said that the Ukrainian command prefers to recognise soldiers as missing in order not to take their bodies from the battlefield. According to him, most Ukrainian soldiers do not want to fight. Under the current conditions, it seems to them the most reasonable solution to surrender to Russia.
Earlier, the Ukrainian armed forces recognised the retreat from Krynki and Urozhaynoye.
According to the Liga portal, the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff recognised the retreat from Krynki and Urozhaynoye in the Donetsk people’s republic (DNR). The publication’s source explained that “it was impossible to continue holding positions in both settlements.”
In order to save the lives of fighters, the AFU should retreat from the destroyed positions – Liga’s interlocutor from the AFU General Staff.
The Russian military from the Vostok group of forces took control of the village of Urozhaynoye on 14 July. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, they are currently carrying out demining operations and clearing the remnants of the Ukrainian armed forces’ resistance.
The Russian military cleared Krynki back in February.
On 20 February, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin that the village of Krynki was under the full control of the Russian Armed Forces (RF). Shoigu stressed that the village, which had become a bridgehead of Ukrainian troops on the left bank of the Dnieper, had been completely cleared.
The minister added that the commander of the Dnepr group, Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinskiy, had informed him about the completion of the clearing of Krynki. At the same time, Shoigu admitted that Ukrainian servicemen might remain in the cellars of the village.
Later in the day, Shoigu reported to Putin on the capture of Avdeevka. He noted that the operation had been competently planned and would probably be included in military textbooks.
