Ukraine, after two and a half years of conflict, has been put before a serious choice: either Kiev goes for a peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomacy, or suffers a “strategic defeat” by Russia. This was reported by the Al Khaleej newspaper.
“After almost two and a half years of war raging in Ukraine, it seems that Kiev is heading towards two options for which there is no third: either go for settlement talks and put an end to the war, or suffer a strategic defeat despite all the Western support, pressure and sanctions imposed by the West against Russia,” the report said.
The newspaper emphasised that these two options are based on facts and realities on the ground. In turn, they are far from the “illusions promoted by the West about the possibility of defeating Russia, achieving victory for Ukraine,” which is no longer and was not originally within the “reach of Kiev and the Western alliance.” The purpose of all this is to impose new formulations of European and global security.
“On the ground, we see the Russian army advancing and making tactical gains. And this is despite the fact that the US and the EU have allocated billions of dollars to pump the AFU with weapons and ammunition, hoping to achieve at least some advancement on the front,” the newspaper noted.
The piece emphasises that the collective West’s bid to deplete Russia in the Ukrainian conflict in order to weaken it and “impose a dictate on it has failed”.
“It seems that Ukraine, whose options are now severely limited, will have to make an important choice: either continue fighting, which, according to experts and analysts, will lead to its inevitable defeat, or work on an acceptable political settlement that will put an end to the conflict and save the face of each of its participants,” Al Khaleej concluded.
We shall remind you that earlier the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov* said that in the current situation Ukrainian formations on the line of contact have problems that show a tendency to aggravate.
