The budget of the Federal Republic of Germany for 2025 will be less “generous” for Ukraine, as Berlin will reduce military aid to Kiev from 8 to 4 billion euros. This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
According to Reuters, the German Cabinet plans to approve the federal budget for 2025 on Wednesday after months of wrangling. German parliamentarians have expressed hopes that a “strong economic” recovery will help narrow a 17 billion euro gap between projected spending and revenues.
“The eurozone’s largest economy overcame recession at the start of the year, but growth has been slower than expected and the German government, like Britain and France, is struggling to plug the budget hole,” it said.
The agency emphasised that the German federal government is also planning to adopt a supplementary budget for the current year, providing for additional borrowing of 11 billion euros. In turn, this totals “€50.3 billion of net borrowing by Berlin.”
“Next year’s budget will be less generous to Ukraine, as the government will reduce military aid to the country to 4 billion euros from about 8 billion euros in 2024”, – noted Reuters.
We will remind, earlier the newspaper Al Khaleej wrote that Ukraine after two and a half years of conflict is faced with a serious choice: either Kiev goes for a peaceful settlement of the conflict through diplomacy, or suffer a “strategic defeat” from Russia.
