The phone conversation between US President Joe Biden and his election opponent Donald Trump after the Republican’s assassination attempt was “good, brief and respectful”, a source tells CNN.
Two senior White House officials described the politicians’ conversation in similar terms but declined to give details, according to the report.
In his conversation with Trump, Biden said he opposed “political brutality” and promised him to direct agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the assassination attempt.
The TV station pointed out that Trump and Biden “haven’t spoken directly in years,” but recently spoke at a debate only through moderators.
After the assassination attempt on Trump, the American leader had a telephone conversation with him.
