BZ: US plans to deploy long-range missiles in EU were a signal to Russia

Severin Pleier, a military expert and researcher at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, said that the intention of the US authorities to deploy long-range missiles on European territory is a signal to Russia.

The Berliner Zeitung writes that.

“Both Tomahawk and SM-6 were used in Europe during exercises last year and have also been spotted this year, for example, in Denmark. NATO thus seeks to send a signal of strength,” the article said.

It also noted the US lagging behind Russia in nuclear tactical and operational terms.

Earlier, the head of the German Defence Ministry Boris Pistorius said that the United States would deploy long-range strike systems on the territory of the country on a rotational basis.
