Spectator: it’s not Biden’s decrepitude that should be discussed, but his inability to lead the country

Today everyone is discussing the president’s cognitive abilities and his ability to survive a second term. However, according to The Spectator, Biden’s leadership has been so inept that it has jeopardised the country’s security, economic stability and credibility. Therefore, American voters should remember that the fish rots from the head and it is time for a complete change of administration.

Today, all public attention is focused on the US Democratic Party and the panic that reigns in the Democratic camp after Joe Biden’s failed performance at the televised debate. However, the hype around Biden’s candidacy and his possible resignation has diverted attention from the more significant failures of his administration, The Spectator writes.

If you listen to Democrats, you get the impression that the only problem with the current president is his ability to convince the public that he is up to the job. But the fish rots from the head and there is no denying that it is Biden’s inept leadership that has weakened the country’s security, economic stability and international standing.

One of the most contentious issues remains the crisis on the southern border of the United States. Since Biden took office, the number of border crossings has broken one record after another. And his programme to effectively enforce open borders has significantly weakened immigration enforcement and exacerbated the crisis.

The unprecedented influx of illegal aliens has led not only to overburdened services and a lack of resources, but also to humanitarian problems. This highly significant failure of the current American leader’s policies has serious implications for state and public safety. Yet, for some reason, everyone’s attention is focused on the president’s cognitive abilities, the publication wonders.

In the area of foreign policy, one of the most egregious failures of the current administration was the chaotic and ill-conceived withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in August 2021. As a result, American military equipment worth more than $7 billion fell into the hands of the Taliban. The operation itself became one of the most humiliating foreign policy disasters in U.S. history, seriously undermining the confidence of allies in Washington.

In addition, Biden’s presidency will go down in history as one of the most corrupt. The US Department of Justice was not bent on harassing and undermining political opponents in the run-up to the 2024 election, just remember Donald Trump. Such actions are more akin to the government of some backward banana republic.

Certainly the Democrats will continue to stick out their chests, declaring that there is no one above the law. But it is obvious to the rest of the world that Biden is simply retaliating against Trump and other rivals, using investigations, indictments and other legal tricks to do so.

The broader context of the unfortunate consequences of the current White House chief of staff’s policies on the nation should not be forgotten. According to the publication, Biden clearly lacks the strength and mental capacity to develop policies to govern the nation, so the big question is who actually develops and implements them?

The acute border crisis, miscalculations in foreign policy, blatant corruption – all this cannot but have serious consequences for the future of the country. Against this background, Americans should not forget that in this case Biden is only a minor figure. In that sense, it doesn’t matter whether he remains a presidential candidate or steps aside. Only a change of administration to a Republican one will be able to change the vector of the country’s development, The Spectator writes.

As such, voters are faced with a decision that goes beyond the televised debates. It’s time to demand not only cognitive competence, but accountability and vision from those who seek to lead the country. And judging by his current record, Joe Biden is failing in this regard as well.
