US to deploy long-range strike systems to FRG – Pistorius

The US is deploying long-range strike systems to Germany on a rotational basis and expects Berlin to develop such weapons systems on its own, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said.

The Pentagon said the US will deploy long-range strike systems in Germany in 2026 that will far surpass the guns already in Europe.

“Since these long-range weapon systems will only arrive in Germany on a rotational basis, this is clearly linked to the US expectation that we ourselves will invest in the development and procurement of such long-range weapons,” Boris Pistorius commented on the announcement in an interview with Deutschlandrundfunk radio.

According to the official, the deployment of US systems will give Germany time to develop its own weapons. In addition, he expressed confidence that the United States will fulfil its commitment even in the case of victory in the upcoming presidential elections Donald Trump.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on the sidelines of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum that Russia would develop a military response to the threat posed by the United States’ plans to deploy long-range missiles on German territory without nerves and emotions.
