The US and its European partners have been stunned by the weakness of their own military-industrial complex, said Republican Senator Jim Risch of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Speaking at the summit, US President Joe Biden said that NATO could not afford to fall behind Russia, which, he claimed, had shifted its military-industrial complex to military use by significantly increasing the production of weapons and ammunition.
Jim Risch said the weakness of the EU and US’ own military-industrial complex was discovered when they mobilised aid to Ukraine.
“We were stunned. I think we were all stunned by the weakness and holes in our industrial production when it comes to defence,” – said Risch on the margins of the Washington summit of NATO.
