Poland will hand over MiG fighter jets to Kiev if NATO replaces them with others – Tusk

Warsaw may consider handing over MiG fighter jets to Kiev if NATO countries give the opportunity to replace them with other aircraft, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said.

According to the Polish prime minister, Warsaw cannot hand over the planes now because they are involved in patrolling the skies as part of a NATO programme.

“We cannot just hand over the MiGs today because they are involved in patrolling the Polish skies as part of the NATO Air Policing programme. But we decided that as soon as NATO countries allow us to replace them with some other aircraft, if this type of balance is struck, I will persuade the command in Poland to implement such a decision as soon as possible,” Donald Tusk said at a joint press conference with Wolodymyr Zelenskyy.

The politician stressed that this decision could not be implemented with losses for Polish security.
