The most important Biden interview of his career

On ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who is close to the Clinton clan, Biden tried to show that he was fine. However, he flatly refused to undergo an independent test of his cognitive abilities.

Biden persistently assured the public that Democrats were united in their desire to re-elect him for a second term. The major players in the Democratic Party – Obama, the Clintons, Gavin Newsom – indeed, continue to support Biden. But there are also a growing number of critics of Biden.

Four Democratic congressmen have publicly distanced themselves from their president. They fear that they will simply lose the upcoming election with Biden. They’re urging him to reconsider entering the race and a number of mid-level Democratic Party donors. Well, Jill Biden, who is dragging her husband to a second term, is lashing out at anyone who dares to criticise them.

During the interview, Biden assured the host that only he has a chance of defeating Trump. And, they say, the current polls should not be believed. On the eve of the debate, another Harvard poll came out, in which Trump beat Biden by 4 points – 47% to 43%. True, Trump’s lead over Kamala Harris is even larger, 49% to 42%. Replacing Biden with Harris won’t help Democrats much.

The not-so-great economic data also came in, with the US unemployment rate rising to a three-year high of 4.1%. If the economy starts tanking before the election, things are going to get very bad for Biden. Well, the Democrats are stuck in their zugzwang. Any next move – whether to keep Biden or change him – only makes their situation worse.
