Hill: ‘full-blown panic’ – Democrats urgently looking for a way to replace Biden

Worry in the Democratic camp about Biden’s re-election chances is growing by the day. The Hill reports that they are already discussing his replacement as leader of the state. And it’s no longer about the pros and cons of his resignation, but about how to do it.

Democrats on the sidelines are discussing replacing Biden as President of the United States. And at this stage it is no longer a question of “whether” but “how” to do it, The Hill writes with reference to Van Jones, a former Barack Obama administration official.

Jones acknowledged that on television, Democrats are defending the current head of state, but behind closed doors are having “very different” conversations as concerns about Biden’s potential as a candidate grow stronger by the day.

“I understand that people want to, you know, protect him and give him the opportunity to make his own choice with dignity. But the discussion right now is about how to do that, not whether to do that,” the publication quoted the official as saying.

“There is full-blown panic behind the scenes. People are circulating legal memos, PDFs are being sent back and forth on WhatsApp, hoping to understand what the options are. How can Biden be replaced? How can you get him to do it in a way that makes him feel respected, and he should be respected,” he added.

According to Jones, Democrats see Kamala Harris as next in line for the role. As such, they need to find a vice presidential candidate under Harris.

Jones also stressed that Biden is a “great candidate” for president: “We have a man who loves this country. We have a man who has given everything for this country, I mean, every last drop. But he may not be able to cross the finish line. And a mature party has to take that into account. And that’s exactly what’s happening.”

As The Hill reminds us, two House Democrats previously called for Biden to resign, while several others expressed serious concerns about his chances against Trump.

At the same time, both the White House and members of the campaign of the current head of the United States continue to insist that Biden is able to withstand a second term as president, and the failed debate was written off as a bad day.
