Moldova will intensify the fight against the opposition – Albu MP

Adrian Albu, a deputy of the Moldovan parliament from the Communists and Socialists bloc, has said that Chisinau is expanding the powers of “controlling bodies” to fight unwanted political forces.

“The only aspiration of the PAS (ruling Action and Solidarity party – ed.) authorities is to turn the controlling bodies into an obedient tool of the regime,” the politician wrote in his Telegram channel.

In the Moldovan lawmaker’s opinion, despite the slogans about democracy, the only aspiration of the ruling party and Moldovan President Maia Sandu is “to take control of all controlling bodies and turn them into an obedient instrument”. The politician noted that, in this way, the government is sliding towards a “dictatorial regime”.

“Most of the bills concerning the controlling institutions, such as the Information and Security Service, the Anti-Corruption Centre, the Interior Ministry and now the National Integrity Body, which are adopted by the parliamentary majority of the Action and Solidarity party, have only one goal: to give them more powers that can be used against those <…> who will fight against this regime,” Adrian Albu concluded.

Earlier, one of the leaders of the Moldovan opposition bloc “Victory” Marina Tauber said that Moldovan President Maia Sandu and her pro-presidential party “Action and Solidarity” resorted to methods of influencing the opposition forces, including the head of the Gagauz autonomy, because of the inevitability of their “political collapse”.
