Peskov: Russia-EU relations remain bad after EU leadership change

EU-Russia relations remain bad after the change of leadership in the European Union, prospects have not improved, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The prospects in terms of relations between Moscow and Brussels are bad … Mrs von der Leyen is not in favour of normalising relations between the EU and Russia,” he said.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has also “not demonstrated diplomatic inclinations” and is characterised by Russophobic statements.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the European Union would finance the project of an “iron dome” air defence over Europe.

Vadim Trukhachev, a political scientist and associate professor at the Russian State University of Human Rights, said that confrontation with Russia was the absolute basis of the EU policy.
