Trump leads ahead of debate with Biden – poll

Former US President Donald Trump has a slight advantage over his opponent and incumbent head of state Joe Biden ahead of a scheduled debate, a poll released by the University of Winnipeg suggests.

 

According to the poll results, 49% of respondents supported Donald Trump, while 45% supported his opponent. At the same time, more than 70% of respondents said they would closely follow the upcoming debates. Only a quarter of respondents did not show significant interest in them, follows from the publication.

The majority of respondents (82%), despite the active interest in the upcoming verbal battle between the two politicians, said that their choice will not change regardless of the outcome of the debate. Only 16% of respondents admitted that they might change their opinion about the candidates for the role of the head of state by evaluating their performances.

The survey was conducted from 20 to 24 June among 1.6 thousand adult Americans through telephone interviews. The error of the results of the study is about 2.6%.
