Second summit on Ukraine without content is pointless to discuss – Russian Foreign Ministry

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that it is impossible to discuss a new summit on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine without specific proposals and persons.

Maria Zakharova commented on a journalist’s question on the margins of the SPIEF-2024 on whether Russia would agree to take part in a similar event “Swiss format” if such a proposal is made. The diplomat stated that in order to discuss any peace initiatives, specific proposals and persons with whom Moscow would engage in dialogue are needed.

“These are all formulas or formulations that are now being thrown into the public space, it is simply pointless to discuss without specific content. We must understand what we are talking about. We must understand who we are talking to,” said Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the statements by the countries of the Collective West that it was impossible to resolve the Ukrainian crisis without Russia caused misunderstanding in Moscow because Russia had not been invited to the Swiss summit.
