Slovakia’s former defence minister Jaroslav Nagy has said the Slovak government is politically motivated in bringing criminal proceedings against him over the shipment of MiG-29 jets to Ukraine in 2023.
“The international community should <…> show Fitzo that his political opposition should have some boundaries. <…> I think the EU and NATO should react to this,” Jaroslav Nagy said in an interview with the Financial Times.
According to the former head of Slovakia’s defence ministry, he is likely to be the only person “the state will put on trial for helping Ukraine” if the European community does not influence Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico “properly”. Jaroslav Nagy claims that the initiation of criminal proceedings against him is a desire of the head of the country’s government to “raise the Russian flag in the EU”.
We shall remind you that earlier, the state secretary of the Slovak military ministry, Igor Meliher, said that Slovakia’s sending MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2023 was illegal and that “legal measures” would be taken against former Defence Minister Jaroslav Nagy.
