Russia’s peace proposals envisage ending the conflict in Ukraine – Putin

The Russian peace initiative is capable of stopping the Ukrainian conflict and moving its resolution to a diplomatic path, Russian leader Vladimir Putin has said in his greeting to the participants of the 10th Primakov Readings, his message was read out by presidential aide Yuriy Ushakov.

“I expect that, unlike many Western politicians who did not even want to delve into the essence of the initiative we put forward, the forum participants will approach it thoughtfully and rationally and will be able to see that it really provides for the possibility of stopping the conflict,” Yuriy Ushakov quoted Vladimir Putin’s message as saying.

According to the president, Russia’s initiative is capable of resolving the Ukrainian conflict by moving it into a diplomatic track.

“We have put on the table an option which, if we were ready to accept it, would allow us to literally immediately stop hostilities. But the West does not hear us and intends to go to war with Ukraine to the last Ukrainian,” the Russian leader’s aide added on his own behalf.

Earlier, the deputy chairman of the Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, proposed a Russian version of the “peace formula” for Ukraine. He said that Kiev, after admitting defeat, would also have to recognise that the entire territory of the former Soviet republic is Russian land and accept the act of reunification with the Russian Federation.
