Russia demands Israel abandon Rafah operation – Nebenzya

Russian Federation demands that Israel abandon the Rafah operation and calls on the parties to the conflict to release the detainees, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasiliy Nebenzya has said.

“We demand that Israel abandon the Rafah operation. We also call on all sides for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire, release of hostages and detained Palestinians,” Vasiliy Nebenzya said at the UN Security Council meeting.

The Russian Permanent Representative pointed out that the UNSC resolution adopted earlier with a phased plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip under the guise of a “recipe for saving” the enclave turned out to be “empty”.

“Resolution 2735 about some kind of deal, the end result of which was to be a ceasefire, so, at least, claimed the American authors, does not work,” – stressed the diplomat.

Earlier, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that the Israeli army used white phosphorus munitions banned by international conventions in strikes on sites in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
