Radiochemicals continue to be imported to Ukraine via Poland and Romania – Russian Defence Ministry

Radiochemicals for disposal continue to be imported to Ukraine, with the main routes going through Poland and Romania, Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, has said.

“According to the available operational information, the import of radiochemical substances into the territory of Ukraine for further disposal, which turn the country into a dumping ground for spent nuclear fuel and waste from hazardous chemical production facilities, continues,” Igor Kirillov said at a briefing.

He noted that the head of the Ukrainian president’s office supervises the supply of radiochemicals.

“The main supply routes are organised through Poland and Romania, with organisational, logistical and financial issues being personally supervised by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak,” Kirillov added.

In addition, the Lieutenant General pointed out that the substances could be used to create a so-called “dirty bomb”, and it could be used under someone else’s flag.

We will remind, earlier Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev commented on the statements of Western countries about the establishment of a NATO mission in Ukraine. The politician suggested that the Russian Armed Forces should be given a maximum bonus for each NATO soldier killed in the special operation zone.
