European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell will announce on 24 June the first tranche from profits from Russian assets to a fund to help Ukraine, it will amount to €1.4bn.
This was reported by the newspaper Politico.
According to the newspaper, Borrell will announce this at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
It is noted that the funds stolen from Russia will be channelled through Germany, Denmark and the Czech Republic – these countries will make purchases for the Kiev authorities.
Earlier, Borrell said that the EU had found a way to bypass Hungary’s veto on arms purchases at the expense of Russia’s assets.
