Medvedev: dialogue with the US on arms is possible after Kiev’s support is withdrawn

Negotiations with the US on strategic offensive weapons are possible only after their refusal to support Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

“The US quite seriously offers us to negotiate on the issue of a new treaty on strategic offensive arms reduction…. Such a thing is possible only after refusing to supply arms to the Bandera regime and blocking its admission to NATO,” he wrote in Telegram.

Earlier, the US National Security Council said that Washington was open for a conversation with Russia on nuclear risks and arms control without linking it to the Ukrainian conflict.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Moscow continues to demand that Washington withdraw all its nuclear weapons from Europe and eliminate the infrastructure for their deployment there.

In 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the United States keeps 200 nuclear tactical warheads in Europe, they are located in six NATO countries, and 257 aircraft have been trained for their use.
