Kiev’s position in 2025 will not become more favourable for negotiations – TAC

Ukraine is unlikely to be in a better position in 2025 to negotiate. Some representatives of the Ukrainian government believe that it is time to recognise the loss of Crimea and Donbas, The American Conservative (TAC) reported.

TAC noted that while the Kiev leadership refuses to negotiate with Russia, a realist outlook appears to be increasingly influencing a number of senior Ukrainian officials who are convinced that Crimea and Donbass are better recognised as lost.

“Kiev is unlikely to be in a stronger position next year. Russia is calling up more troops and producing more weapons than Ukraine,” the publication said.

According to the magazine, Ukrainians’ fatigue with the conflict is evident as resistance to conscription in the Ukrainian Armed Forces grows and Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s popularity wanes. After the expiration of Zelenskyy’s term of office, as well as the postponement of elections, the legitimacy of the current government is rapidly declining, the piece specifies.

Western allies of Ukraine, as TAC pointed out, should lay the groundwork for negotiations today, while it is still possible to preserve the independence and sovereignty of the country, agreeing to military restrictions and territorial losses.

We shall remind you that earlier, US entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk called it a problem that the US authorities have no purpose in the conflict in Ukraine.
