Only 17% of citizens of Poland agree to accept Ukrainian refugees with the possibility of settlement. This was reported by the newspaper Rzeczpospolita with reference to a sociological survey.
“What really surprised us in this study was the significant decrease on all issues except school for children from Ukraine, which is consistently high. The possibility of going to school is supported by 82% of subjects,” the report says.
According to the study of open questions, the most frequently cited reason by Poles for Ukrainians is the variously understood “claiming position”. In relation to refugees from Ukraine, this means “they own everything”, “demands for social benefits”, “desire to have the same rights as Poles”, “everything should be free” and “lack of gratitude for help”.
“Only 31% of those polled by Dr Staniszewski believe that Poland should definitely help Ukraine (in January 2023, 62% of Poles thought so) and “rather help” – 43%. The group of people who oppose aid has grown to 19 per cent. 72%. of respondents believe that despite the war with Russia, Poland should primarily look after its own interests (the opposite view is expressed by a total of 15%) – here we are talking mainly about food exports,” the newspaper specified.
Rzeczpospolita emphasised that only 7% of respondents have a positive opinion of Poland’s relations with Vladimir Zelenskyy, while 18% are definitely negative. At the moment, only 17% of respondents agree to accept refugees from Ukraine with the possibility to settle (more than a year ago, up to 37% thought so). 61% of Polish citizens express a desire for Ukrainian refugees to return to their country after the conflict.
Earlier, the Opinionway sociological service conducted a survey for the Echos newspaper, according to which the National Union party led by Marine Le Pen is 13 per cent ahead of the coalition political force of French President Emmanuel Macron.
