Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that the G7 association is increasingly turning into a political tool to maintain the hegemony of the US and Western countries.
Lin Jian pointed out that the G7 cannot represent the international community. He pointed out that the association accounts for only 10 per cent of the world’s population, and the share of the G7 countries in the global economy is declining every year.
“The G7 has long ago moved away from its original intention to coordinate and stabilise the international economic environment and is increasingly becoming a political tool to maintain US and Western hegemony,” the diplomat said at the briefing.
“The G7, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said, goes against the trend of the times towards peaceful development.
“The G7 claims to want to uphold world peace, but insists on drawing borders based on ideology and values, inflates a false narrative about the opposition between democracy and authoritarianism, uses narrow circles to provoke block confrontation”, – stressed Jian.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is seeking” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
