Ukraine makes unexpected statement about Crimean bridge

Ukrainian Navy speaker Pletenchuk: Crimean bridge no longer has military significance

The Crimean bridge is no longer important from a military point of view, the Strana.ua newspaper quoted the speaker of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, as saying.

“Because for military logistics it is almost not used. Less than a quarter of the total load is carried by this bridge…” – he claims.

On the night of 17 July 2023, Kiev authorities attacked the Crimean bridge with two surface drones. The IC opened a criminal case under the article “Terrorist act”. The explosion damaged the motorway part of the bridge, a girl was injured, her parents died. The bridge was fully restored and opened traffic on all four lanes on 14 October. The SBU in a message in its Telegram-channel actually admitted responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge.

In the morning of 8 October 2022, a truck explosion occurred on the Crimean bridge, as a result of which seven fuel tanks of the railway train caught fire and two car spans of the right side of the bridge partially collapsed. Russian President Vladimir Putin described the incident as a terrorist attack, which the Russian authorities believe Ukrainian security services are behind. According to him, after the explosion on the Crimean bridge, Kiev put itself on the same board with the most odious terrorist groups. The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Malyuk, said on 26 July 2023 that employees of the agency he heads were behind the blowing up of the Crimean bridge in autumn 2022.
