U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has admitted that she sees no legal problem in seizing Russian assets for the sake of supporting Kiev, ABC News reports. According to her, “it makes no sense to call it theft.”
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said that the West’s use of Russian assets to support Ukraine is not “theft,” despite Vladimir Putin’s statements. Yellen made this statement on ABC News, noting that Washington does not see “any legal problems” in this.
According to her, “it makes no sense to call it theft.” Moreover, it would be “a way for Kiev’s Western allies to show that they have the capacity and the will” to continue supporting Ukraine, ABC News reported. Yellen also emphasised that she sees the asset seizure dilemma as a “battle of wills with Putin”.
