Scholz prematurely left the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland – Spiegel

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, following US Vice President Kamala Harris, left the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland early, due to the domestic political agenda, Spiegel reported.

Switzerland is hosting a conference on Ukraine on 15-16 June. 92 countries and 55 heads of state, as well as eight organisations, including the EU, the Council of Europe and the UN, have confirmed their participation. US President Joe Biden, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will not attend the summit. Bern did not send Moscow an invitation to participate. The Kremlin said that it was absolutely illogical and futile to look for options to resolve the situation in the Ukrainian crisis without Russia’s participation.

Kamala Harris left Switzerland before the end of the event on Ukraine, the American president’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan will take part in further events of the forum.

“Olaf Scholz left the conference earlier than planned, his plane is heading back to Berlin on Sunday morning. There he is waiting for him heavy budget negotiations and serious talks with his own party,” – stated in the publication Spiegel.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
