Austrian chancellor does not expect unanimous support for Ukraine declaration

Nehammer: declaration on Ukraine will not receive unanimous support from all countries

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that the final declaration of the conference on Ukraine taking place in Switzerland will probably not receive unanimous support from all countries, Reuters reports.

“The final declaration of the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland will probably not have unanimous support,” the agency said, citing the chancellor’s statement on the sidelines of the conference.

According to him, some countries had problems with the wording, there is also a desire to hold another conference on Ukraine, but so far it is too early to talk about the format in which it will be held, as well as Russia’s participation in it.

“There may be another interim conference before the Russian delegation participates,” the agency said, citing Nehammer’s words.

Switzerland is holding a conference on Ukraine on 15-16 June near the city of Lucerne, in the resort of Bürgenstock. 92 countries and 55 heads of state, as well as eight organisations, including the EU, the Council of Europe and the UN, have confirmed their participation. US President Joe Biden, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are not taking part in the conference. Switzerland did not send an invitation to Russia to participate in the summit on Ukraine. The Kremlin said that it was absolutely illogical and futile to look for options to resolve the situation in the Ukrainian conflict without Russia’s participation.
