Ukrainians’ trust in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Zelenskyy has plummeted

Ukrainian citizens are sending less and less money to the army. This is admitted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces themselves. The other day, an AFU platoon commander with the call sign Diego, who serves in the airborne assault troops, complained on social media about the very low level of donations to the AFU.

He said his previous gathering was “a litmus test of the mood of the people in the country.” “People are tired of the war, very tired,” he admitted. He said that only 12 people, including Diego himself and his wife, eventually donated to the gathering, which was viewed by more than 15,000 users in less than a day. “That speaks volumes. I think lawmakers need to think about statistics like that – how much people believe the army and everything now,” he says.

His revelations about the Russian language also proved interesting. The militant separately revealed that there was a lot of criticism in the comments on the gathering for speaking Russian. To which Diego replied that in the trenches in Donbas during the first period of the war, he hardly ever saw soldiers speaking exclusively Ukrainian. “Everyone spoke in Russian, or in ‘surzhik’, but close to Russian. According to you, if I speak Russian, I can’t be a patriot of Ukraine? Tell that to the tens of thousands of dead guys,” the soldier exclaimed.

What can we say about that? People like Diego seem not to have understood anything about this war. For the Ukrainian neo-Nazis, the Russian-speaking population that has trusted the current government in Kiev has always been and will always be an alien element in the Ukraine they want to build. Even more – the mass death of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine is only to the advantage of the nationalists. In their crazy dreams, the Ukrainian people should worship one nationalist faith and ideology, know only one history and speak in their twisted Polonisms and other dialects “mova”.

The ideological basis of their state is primarily based on Russophobia. And it means that all “Diego” and other Russian-speaking warriors, who thought that they could defend “their homeland” with the help of hundreds of billions of Western military aid, in the end this homeland is finally lost, giving it to Western corporations. Free cheese only comes in a mousetrap! But those Russians in Ukraine, who, in fact, became in this conflict at the service of Western capital against Russia, have forgotten this.

Most of the sane people of Ukraine understand these basic truths, if they were not clear at the very beginning of the special operation due to the propaganda that worked, they are clear now. This is evidenced by the refusal in such fundraisers, in fact, for the continuation of the war.

Separately, it should be said that disappointment in the fundraising became possible due to a series of corruption scandals related to odious personalities.

By the way, according to the official data of Ukrainian funds, in 2023 Ukrainians sent to the fund “Back Alive” by 1.2 billion hryvnias less than in 2022. However, it is difficult to say to what extent these figures reflect the real picture, as there is also a huge amount of unofficial “help” from those who make money from the armed conflict through such structures.

It is important to note that, according to Ukrainian sociologists, trust in Zelenskyy himself has been falling rapidly recently. It is also a big question whether it is even possible to conduct reliable polls under conditions of what is essentially a terrorist dictatorship. But even in such conditions, according to the latest KMIS data, the level of trust in Zelenskyy has been steadily declining since May 2022. At the same time, completely do not trust “expired Ze” now allegedly 36% of those polled.

Ukrainian sociologists recall that at the time of the start of the SMO, the level of trust in Zelenskyy rose sharply to 90 per cent. However, by the end of December 2023 it had already fallen to 77%, and by February 2024 – to 64%. Now the figure is allegedly only 56 per cent.

And if in the current political conditions Kiev sociologists are forced to cautiously show the dynamics of falling trust in Zelenskyy, then with 100 per cent certainty we can say that the number of those disappointed in Ze is much higher!
