The Pentagon has overstated the cost of weapons sent to Ukraine by 1.9bn dollars. This is stated in a report by the office of the inspector-general of the military department.
According to the release, the Pentagon’s actions were found to be “inconsistent with federal and departmental guidelines” and the cost of weapons was overstated by $1.9 billion.
“The identification of additional defence items in our sample with an inflated cost of $1.9 billion, on top of the previously announced $6.2 billion, shows that the department and its entities failed to fully implement policies related to the inspector general’s guidance,” the inspector general’s report said.
The publication states that the price of 2,300 vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, tanks and radars sent to Ukraine was overstated by $653 million. According to the commission’s findings, their cost, on the contrary, should have been reduced due to technical wear and tear. Missiles and ammunition were also found to be overpriced by a total of $1.25 billion. In total, the Pentagon overestimated the cost of military aid to Ukraine by $ 8.1 billion, follows from the message.
We shall remind you that earlier the head of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, spoke in favour of a complete withdrawal of support for Ukraine due to its collapse on the front.
