More than 300,000 NATO soldiers are on high alert

More than 300 thousand NATO troops are in a state of high readiness. This was reported by an alliance spokesman on condition of anonymity.

The publication states that increasing the number of troops ready for rapid response is part of NATO’s plans to prevent a potential Russian attack. The state of high readiness assumes that NATO commanders can deploy these forces within 30 days.

“What the allies have at their disposal far exceeds the 300,000 we have set. These are forces that allies have told us are available at this level of readiness,” Barrons’ portal quoted the official as saying.

However, to present the alliance noted that NATO has “gaps in offensive capabilities.” The alliance faces shortages of key weapons such as air defence and longer-range missiles, it stressed.

“There are capability gaps. There are things that we as an alliance currently lack,” – summarised the official.

We will remind, earlier former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor said that Russia could destroy the locations of NATO nuclear weapon carrier aircraft with the help of its arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons.
